Article 8: Amendments

 

Article VIII-Amendments

Section 1. Proposed amendments may be submitted at any time to the Executive Vice President,

however, any amendment to be passed at the G.A. meeting must be delivered to the

Executive Vice President no less than 30 days prior the meeting.

 

A. The Vice President will ensure that every Association member has unrestricted

access to the proposed amendment and this Constitution for no less than 21 days

prior the General Assembly.

B. The Proposed amendment may be ratified by a 2/3 vote of the quorum at the G.A.

C. The Proposed amendment may be amended at the G.A. per Roberts Rules, and as

such, may only be reduced in power in order that the members not in attendance

are protected.

Section 2. Upon the submission of this Constitution to the National Office of the Alpha Tau

Omega Fraternity, thus upon the signatures of the members seeking Chartering

required by the National Office, this constitution is binding. The President reserves

the power to make any additional changes to this constitution for 30 days: If after 30

days changes have been proposed, this Constitution must be available to all members,

and the members must be given 14 days to submit any objections to the proposed

amendments. The Executive Council shall than vote on the objectionable amendment

and/or clause, and then giving the G.A. an additional 7 days to object, at which time

the President may continue to extend the objection process as noted above or may

call a Special Meeting of the General Assembly to vote on the amendment.

 

A. If at any point an amendment survives un-objected given the proper time

periods, it shall immediately be written into the Constitution.

B. Upon the amendments being passed in accordance with the above manner,

Article IX Section 2. shall be removed from the constitution.

Section 3. In the interest of preserving an accurate and historical constitution, all amendments

to this constitution, with the exception of grammatical errors, shall be struck using a

“strike through” hash rather than permanent erasure.

A. Upon presentation of this document to the General Assembly, Article VIII,

Section 3, Clause A. shall be removed and replaced with “Clause A. Formatting

changes shall also be excemted”.

A. Formatting Changes shall also be exempt from Section Article VIII, Section 3.

B. Section 1. of the Mission Statement, as well as Article II, Section 2, shall also be

exempt and completely erased from this Constitution.
